Sheri Reda
Sheri Reda is a SAG performer and writer who also works as a celebrant and outreach librarian. Her performance art, which helped launch the Neo-Futurists, also includes work with Chicago's Trancesisters and with Julie Laffin’s live performance at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Her solo performances have been hosted by Is This A Thing, Story Sessions, This Much is True, Writers Theatre, and other Chicago area productions. Sheri’s work has been anthologized in Dear Human at the Edge of Time, Storytellers Page to Stage, Storytellers’ True Stories About Love, and Healers’ Burden. Her memoir, Life Is Like That (La Vita É Cosi) was long-listed for the International Creative Voices Award in 2025. Sheri’s resistance chapbook, Stubborn, was published by Moria Press in 2016, and her book entitled Diaspora was published by Finishing Line Press (2026). She lives in Chicago with her family and the friendly ghosts of her ancestors.

The most effective storytelling I‘ve experienced has been interactive in one way or another. Immersive experiences allow people to learn from experience. Unusual staging encourages the audience to enter into the mind of the playwright and director. Direct address creates relationship between makers of a piece and audiences. When all these are in service of the story, they encourage investment in the moment at hand.
WHAT I'M WORKING ON
I'm working on play about a son who wants to go to war and a mother who takes extraordinary measures to try to stop him. The two of them struggle toward their own detente while the clock ticks the minutes to the son's deployment.
